Competences of the Ombudsman

The independent Ombudsman makes his free counseling services available to all consumers, having differences with the Swiss Travel Industry, not knowing how to solve them or not knowing their rights. His intention is always to find a fair and balanced solution for both parties involved.

The Ombudsman of the Swiss Travel Industry has none or just very limited possibilities to intervene or mediate in following cases:

  • Bookings with foreign tour operators
  • Bookings on foreign booking-engines (Beware: «.ch» does not always mean Swiss!)
  • Bookings of hotel rooms only
  • Bookings of flights only
  • Bookings of transport only (e.g. coaches)
  • Bookings of holiday rentals (houses, appartments) Switzerland and worldwide
