Tips from the Ombudsman
Check online platforms
It is very important to consider some basic points before booking on online platforms to ensure that your data and money are protected. Here are some tips that can help you.
- Reputation of the company: Find out about the company you want to book with. If you don't know it, check out the reviews to get an idea of customer satisfaction.
- Safety and reliability: Pay attention to the safety and reliability of the company. Check whether the company has customer money protection.
- Web address, URL: Be careful with companies that have a ".ch" web address. They do not necessarily have to be based in Switzerland. Check the website's legal notice to find the company's physical address and legal domicile.
- General Terms and Conditions (GTC): Make sure that the T&Cs are easy to find on the website. These contain important information about your rights and obligations.
- Electronic bookings: Bear in mind that many internet bookings are exclusively electronic. Subsequent changes or interventions can often be difficult and time-consuming, as there is no physical contact person.
- Beware of bargains: Be skeptical of offers that seem too good to be true. Such bargains can often turn out to be expensive surprises.
